Broward Former Top Cop and Current Second-in-Command Have COVID-19

Broward's former top cop has tested positive for COVID-19. Scott Israel says he fell ill and went for testing. His reelection campaign issuing a statement reading in part, "Last night I tested positive for COVID-19. I am in a local area hospital for further evaluation. After experiencing symptoms over the past several days and at the urging of family and friends, I decided to take another coronavirus test. This time, unfortunately, the test was positive."

The 64 year old says his campaign continues while he recovers.

Current Undersheriff Nichole Anderson also testing positive, and quarantining while working from home. Anderson is one of 276 employees at the agency to test positive for COVID-19. Two sheriff's office employees have died from the virus.
