Broward School Officials Reassigned During Trans Athlete Investigation

A Broward County school and a transgender athlete are at the center of an investigation. The school district has reassigned Monarch High School Principal James Cecil and several staff members to non-school sites.

The others being reassigned at the Coconut Creek school are Assistant Principal Kenneth May, Information Management Technician Jessica Norton and Athletic Director Dione Hester.

The district also paused the services of temporary volleyball coach Alex Burgess.

The investigation appears to involve a boy who transitioned to female years ago and now plays on the girl's varsity volleyball team.

It's illegal in Florida for someone born male to play on a female sports team.
