The Southeastern Conference accounted for more than half of the top 10 in the Week 3 Associated Press Top 25 College Football Poll released on Sunday (September 8).
Tennessee moved up seven spots to No. 7 overall following its 51-10 blowout win against then-No. 24 N.C. State, who fell out of the Top 25. Preseason No. 1 Georgia held its spot the second consecutive week following a 48-3 win against Tennessee Tech.
Texas moved up one spot to No. 2 overall following its 31-12 win at Michigan, forcing the Wolverines to drop seven spots to No. 17 overall. Alabama kept its spot at No. 4 overall with a 42-16 win against South Florida.
Ole Miss moved up one spot with a 52-3 win against Middle Tennessee State. Missouri jumped three spots to No. 6 overall following 38-0 win against Buffalo.
Notre Dame had the biggest fall of any ranked team, dropping 13 spots after its 16-14 loss to Northern Illinois, who jumped into the poll at No. 25 overall.
