WWE Hall of Famer and current All Elite Wrestling broadcaster Jim Ross announced he's been diagnosed with colon cancer in a post shared on his X account Thursday (May 15).

"Diagnosed this week with colon cancer. Surgery being scheduled in the next week or two. I appreciate your concern and support," Ross wrote.

Ross, 73, who has Bell's palsy, had previously been diagnosed with skin cancer in October 2021.

“Waiting on the radiologist study to determine treatment,” Ross wrote at the time, along with a photo of his bandaged ankle, on his X account. “Likely radiation.”

The legendary commentator announced he'd beaten cancer and planned to return to AEW television.

“Due to my skin cancer care totaling 22 radiation treatments starting Monday, I will hopefully return to the announce desk on December 29 in Jacksonville,” Ross wrote on X at the time. “@TonyKhan supports me on this strategy which has been a blessing. My thanks for all your support.”

Ross provided lead commentary to numerous major wrestling promotions including WWE, WCW, AEW, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Mid-South Wrestling and others, but is arguably best known for serving as the voice of WWE's 'Attitude Era' during the industry's peak stretch of popularity in the late 1990s alongside fellow Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler.

Ross, who had also previously served as WWE's Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, was inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame in 1999 and WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. The 73-year-old joined AEW as a commentator and senior advisor during the company's launch in 2019.
