(Southwest Ranches, Fla) - A reward is being offered for information about the theft of two young horses stolen from a property in Southwest Ranches. The Animal Recovery Mission is offering the $25-thousand reward for any tip that leads to an arrest and conviction of the thieves who stole and potentially butchered the two pet horses, Canela and Venus.

The fillies were stolen Friday from Rolling Oaks near the World Class Equestrian Centre in Broward. ARM Founder Richard Couto believes the horses were slaughtered near where they were stolen and that their meat is being sold on the black market.

The penalty for selling illegal horse meat in Florida is more severe than it is for heroin and includes a mandatory prison sentence.
