Marathon, FL - A Marathon couple faces charges after a man chased a victim with a knife following a disagreement over a giggle on Saturday.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, 43-year-old Robert Allen Biser chased another man down the street with a knife after the victim chuckled while overhearing an argument between Biser and his girlfriend, 33-year-old Desiree Natasha Downer.

Authorities say Biser, holding a "silver object" believed to be a knife, and Downer chased the victim down 20th Street.

The victim managed to escape and call 911.

Biser and Downer offered conflicting accounts of the incident.

Biser claimed the victim initiated the confrontation with a knife, however, a witness reported Biser asking to borrow a knife shortly before the chase.

Downer was arrested on misdemeanor charges of battery, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia after deputies found a crack pipe on her during a struggle with officers.

Biser remains jailed on a $5,000 bond for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
