Golf Returns to Its Elitist Ways

Doug is back from vacation and he finally has a chance to weigh in on the merger of the LIV, PGA and DP World Tours. He thinks golf was in a tough spot in this post-Tiger era and needed an influx of cash to stay afloat. This merger did exactly that, but it also returned golf to its elitist status after Tiger brought the game to the masses. The whole thing may have turned off more fans than it generated and the future of golf is still a giant question mark.

Doug Gottlieb: “This does provide the financial stability for several years to come, but it doesn’t necessarily change the fact that golf is not as mainstream as it was. It seems to be going back to being the elitist sport it always used to be.”
