The Browns Could Be the 49ers 2.0

Much is being made about the Cleveland Browns naming rookie QB Shedeur Sanders as the starter for their opening game of the preseason tomorrow night against the Carolina Panthers, with Louis Riddick going so far as to say they might be intentionally setting him up for failure. Doug vehemently disagrees and thinks this is actually a smart move because, if Sanders shows promise, he becomes the absolute steal of the draft, and they can compete right away with a QB only making fifth-round money.

Doug Gottlieb: “If (the Browns) can have a rookie quarterback on a fifth-round contract, and they can jettison, you know, (Tyler) Huntley who they just signed and all the other quarter(backs), like, let’s just kind of call it like it is; they’ll have a chance to be the Niners 2.0 where you pay your quarterback nothing and you load up your roster with dudes that can really play.”
